IT'S READY! Work Complete on Our New Mini Wildife Rehab Unit

Updated: Nov 23, 2023

IT’S READY!

After many many months of work and many thousands of pounds spent, our new Wildlife Rehab Unit is ready for its first animal occupants! Our volunteers Darren and Fran finished installing the sink today, the last big job that was outstanding.

I can’t quite believe that it’s ready, and that we finally have our own space, something that seemed an impossible dream just six months ago.

It may only be tiny, but it’s a huge milestone for the charity and it’s a huge milestone for me personally. Every day for the past five years I have spent hours cleaning, feeding and caring for a large number of animals, and I have struggled with this workload to the point that at many times, I’ve felt like giving up. At long last, things are changing; if all goes to plan I’ll be able to split the burden of daily animal care with a team of dedicated and passionate volunteers.

Hopefully this will enable the GWN to continue offering a vital rescue service to the community for many years to come, and to continue expanding. Today a tiny unit, tomorrow, maybe a sprawling sanctuary?

Thank you so much to everyone that has supported us in this mission, and those whose donations have enabled us to purchase the equipment and supplies needed to make our plans possible.

The one thing we really need supplies-wise at the moment is Safe4, a DEFRA approved disinfectant. We can also use bowls, bird seed and wet cat and dog food. This can be purchased via our wishlist at; https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/9BGC4KT8AADC...

You can also donate towards our crowdfunding page to enable us to buy metal aviary panels or another block of caging for the Unit; https://www.paypal.com/donate/?campaign_id=HQ3GZRYP4XW7N
