A recent rescue transported to South Essex Wildlife Hospital (SEWH) was this stunning and impressively large fox. A regular visitor to the garden of a brother and sister who ensured he was well-fed, the fox severely injured his lower jaw and instinctively sought safety in a place he trusted – their house!

After wandering inside and hiding behind a mirror, the siblings managed to confine him to their front room and contacted Fox Angels Foundation, who passed the case on to GWN. Rescuing him was no small feat, as the room was full of fragile items. Eventually, we were able to carefully scruff him as he squeezed himself behind the sofa.

Although the siblings were less than thrilled by the unmistakable smell of fox poop lingering in the room, their concern for their regular visitor outweighed their concern for the fragrance of their home. Thanks to their quick actions, the fox was safely transported to SEWH for specialist care.

We’ll be checking in with SEWH soon for an update on his condition and recovery.
